Ling ling d'amour MT review and giveaway!

Well, I got a very pleasant surprise when I opened this package - Ling Ling Mei tais officially come in two sizes - mid-tai and maxi-tai. The smaller size (eucalyptus green below) is rated up to 15kgs (about 34lbs) and the larger (terracotta) to 20 kgs (45lbs). All pretty standard, but the lovely thing about the smaller size is its amazing adjustability.

Rather than needing to have the waistband rolled or adding another lace/piece of fabric to cinch the base narrower for infants, it's ALL built into the carrier for you.

One toggle across the base will let you narrow it; another located on each side will help you shorten the body, and the carrier can be worn with the headrest up or down.

The maxi tai doesn't feature toggles for cinching but has a generous base which seats Audrey (2y4mo) knee to knee perfectly.

(Although it's not necessary to seat older children knee to knee, it's much more comfortable for the person doing the carrying to have those legs up and around their centre of gravity.)

Having wrap straps means you can easily widen the seat to support an older child without straps digging into their legs.

Of course Ling Ling has taken care with their choice of materials; certified organic cotton in a twill weave, which will fluff up nicely with time and use. Basically, you're buying the quality and function of a wrap-conversion carrier for the same price as a wrap.
Each carrier has a lightly padded waist that's substantial and won't roll; I found the waist straps long enough to cross behind and knot in front, and the wrap straps are my favorite for tensioning well and spreading weight evenly so there's no dig in your shoulders or back.

I love the design in the mid tai size - it makes this a very versatile carrier for families carrying siblings or wanting a single carrier to remain supportive and ergonomic over several years. The maxi, with it's generous weight limit, is an ideal carrier for toddlers to young children.

Now, the best bit is that you can enter to win whichever you prefer- would you like a mid or a maxi? Just hit up the widget - good luck!

Please note that I have not been paid to write this review. Any and all opinions expressed are my own.

  1. My favorite carrier is a soft structured carrier.

  2. I wanted a maxi (or so I thought) until I read this. Maybe a mid would be perfect since I seem to stop BWing around 3.

  3. Oh, and I do have a fondness for SSCs -- however the RS is getting a lot of use these days.

  4. I am learning to use wovens atm but trusting myself to tie the correctly is a big thing. I have always prefered tei's or buckles for that reason :) I would take the maxi because LO is 18 months now :) Donna Smith :)

  5. My favorite carrier is my Hug A Bub. My son is getting too big for his though and its so sad. We tried Ring Sling, but it doesn't really suit us. We are hoping to have a woven in the next two weeks, hopefully we will get on well with that, but for now, a Hug a Bub is my favorite :)

  6. My favourite carrier right now is my RS, but I would love to try one of these mei tais. Thanks for the giveaway :)

    ReplyDelete
  7. At the moment, my favourite is my ring sling as I can pop my baby in quickly to get stuff done and keep him happy

    ReplyDelete
  8. Where can you purchase the mid tai?

    ReplyDelete
  9. I couldn't just say one! Different carrier for different weather and occasion… ;-)

  10. My favorite carrier are a soft structured carrier AND RS (so quick to use for taking my two older children to schoolbus ^^ )

  11. We are still getting the hang of wearing our 7 week old, Sarah, but we're enjoying it so far!
I find that I like our thrift-store Baby Bjorn the most, because it is so secure, but her head stability is still lacking, so I get worried for her neck. We just got a Moby in the mail, so we'll give that a try today. I'm pretty sure Mei/Mid-Tai's are going to be my favorite! We tried one on the other day with a 2 year old and it was so comfy!

  12. For the ne squish my favorite is a WCMT but I prefer an ssc with the toddler and preschooler.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I only have one mei tie. These carrier alternates between two children; a baby and a toddler. I would love two win one so I could carry both and/or have a carrier suitable for toddlers.

  14. My favorite right now is wraps, but I would love to add an awesome mei tai to my stash ♡

    ReplyDelete
  15. My favorite carrier is probably a woven wrap but I would love a mei tai for those days when baby likes to pop his seat!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Mei tai is my favorite type of carrier.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Our current favorite/go to is our RS, but this mid-tai would be really great because of its versatility! Thanks for the opportunity!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I seem to reach for my ring sling the most, but as he's getting bigger I'll need to try some new more supportive options.

    ReplyDelete
  19. My favorite carrier is a soft structured carrier because it is quick and simple to het on and off.

    ReplyDelete
  20. At the moment, a ring sling. Never had a chance to try woven. I've had a mobi and I love it. Used generic "book bag" carriers. They are okay. Not 100% secure feeling though.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ssc is my go to because of my daughter's love for it. Rs is a no go with my little one. I am dying to try something like this, as I think she may actually enjoy it! Mid tai for sure. These look like awesome carriers!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Our favorite is usually a ring sling, but my WCMT might be *my* favorite. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm partial to buckle carriers and woven wraps. I would love this mid since it seems a good cross of the two.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Still trying to figure out a fav. Ring sling and wraps are fun, SSC is fictional.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Right now my favorite carrier is my ring sling :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. My WWRS is my go to right now. I'm just getting into wovens to do a high back carry.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Right now my favorite is an ssc but I have not been able to try a mei tai and would LOVE the chance at this one :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. My favorite right now is our mei tai with wrap straps.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I mostly love woven wraps but I would like to try some mei-tai and this one looks amazing! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  30. My current baby wearing is limited to moby/ergo. I'm hoping to try out a woven and MT with baby #2 who is due in November. Id love to have this eucalyptus one for him!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm slowly finding wrap love but I can't get over how awesome my mei tai is for easy and supportive ups.

    ReplyDelete
  32. My favourite carrier is a woven wrap, though my partner much prefers a Mei Tei. Though lately I've been using our RS a bit more for quick trips.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I love my woven wrap but with a big toddler who just HAS to be up now the MT is just better :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. I am using my Baby B'jorn most these days b/c my 8 month old wants to be held ALL THE TIME and I need a carrier that is quick to put on and not hot to wear. I would love to try a mei tai. It looks like it would be much more comfortable for baby!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I dont know whats my favorite.. for long hikes I like my manduca. It is easier to stop up and take baby out for a short time, I dont have to wrap up and wrap in :-p

    ReplyDelete
  36. My favorites are wovens. I love ring slings for quick trips, but usually always reach for a woven. This Mei Tei looks amazing! So exciting!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I love the MID tai. I have a mei tai, which I love now, but it didn't work for when my youngest was tiny. I always felt she would fall out the side ;) This would be perfect with its adjusters... thanks

    ReplyDelete
  38. My favorite carrier for my little girl is a woven, but prefer a ssc for my big guy :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Right now a SSC is best for my toddler

    ReplyDelete
  40. I am an equal opportunity babywearer, but I would have to say my favorite is a wrap for all the versatility.

    ReplyDelete
  41. We love wovens but it's too hot in South FL. My husband and I are getting a lot of use out of our Ergo and Mei Tai. I'm in love with the Mid!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I wish wraps were my favorite, but I use my ssc most. I'd love a great mei tai!

    ReplyDelete
  43. My favourite is a woven wrap for its adjustability, then a mei tai for how easy it makes it for others to carry my kids too

    ReplyDelete
  44. Love wraps and then mei tais

    ReplyDelete
  45. I love our mei tai but my lo has gotten too big for it. I can still use it, but it gets uncomfortable after long periods of time. I'd love the maxi Tai for just this reason!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I use an ssc but I would like a ring sling and mai tai to give myself more flexibility an find what bubba likes most

    ReplyDelete
  47. I can never decide which is my favorite. I love SSC's for their ease of use, I love wraps for their comfort and versatility. I have only tried on a Mei Tai once, but it felt like it combined the best of both worlds. I can't wait to try one for a longer period of time!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I love mei tai! I never go out without it!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. For newborns, my favorite carrier is a ring sling. As they grow, I prefer a woven wrap because it really grows with them. But the sling is still nice for a quick up and go.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I love all my carriers for different reasons!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Love our mei tai. Would be nice to have another one bc its the only kind my lo likes.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Soft structured carriers and woven wraps! :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. I love a good SSC, but also a beautiful woven wrap.

    ReplyDelete
  54. My favorite carrier so far as been my SSC, mainly because it's all I've owned and it really is comfortable and easy to wear. I have always wanted to try a ring sling and woven wrap though!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I was always an SSC girl until I got my HB and now I LOVE my HB. Meitais are awesome too ;)

    ReplyDelete
  56. I really only have experience with woven wraps so they would have to be my favourite!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I don't have a favorite yet. Im a first time mommy to be. She is due oct 2nd and I plan on carrying. I like the soft cloth wraps better than the ergos with the rough material. It looks more comfy for baby and seems more natural. I cant choose a favorite Ive never used one nor do I own any.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Love my Mei Tai and I love, love LOVE my Tula! Especially for quick ups or lengthy carries! I would love to try this Maxi Tai....those wide straps look dreamy! Thank you!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  61. Ssc are my fave. Want to try a woven and ring sling sometime.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  63. My favorite carrier is a woven wrap, specifically a black hemp Pfau!

    ReplyDelete
  64. My favorite carrier is my diy wrap but I've not tried anything else!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I currently have a Moby and a Beco Gemini. The Moby is just too much fabric for the summer heat and although I love that my 2.5 month old sleeps soundly in the Beco, it just doesn't fit my torso correctly. I would be so excited to win a carrier like the mid tai! I love the vibrant color AND the fact that it has the waistband for added back support!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Looks so comfy! I love my Mei Tai, I'll take the mid when I win please, have a newborn on the way ;)

    ReplyDelete
  67. I have a ring sling, mei tai, woven, ssc and use then all equally but my favorite is the mei tai!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Thought I wanted a maxi but after reading this a mid might be better for us. Mei Tai is definitely my preference can't seem to get the hang of ring slings or wraps, do own some ssc for hubby to use!

    ReplyDelete
  69. My favorite is my woven wrap, I've never tried a Mei tai, but would love to and the MID looks like it would be perfect for my 12lb 5 month old.

    ReplyDelete
  70. My favourite would be SSC. I've tried ringsling and wrap too, but never get the chance to try a mei tai. Perhaps winning this one would be my first experience with a mei tai?

    ReplyDelete
  71. I think I woyld love the MID tai the best. Ive looked at many others, but I love the way this one adjusts for infants!

    ReplyDelete
  72. I used a ring sling and a SSC with my first baby. I just had my second, and I'm looking forward to trying some new carries. I love the Mid Tai. The adjustability looks great! I'm also interested in a woven wrap while my baby girl is super small.

    ReplyDelete
  73. My favorite carrier is a ring sling but I have never tried a mei tai

    ReplyDelete
  74. Love wovens! Looking into wrap conversions.

    ReplyDelete
  75. So far a MT has worked best for us. I would love to get a Tula or KP, though.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I love all carriers. They all have their advantages!

    ReplyDelete
  77. I love SSCs but I'm dying to try a woven wrap!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Well, I don't have a favourite type of carrier yet. :) However, the mid tai seems so adjustable, I'm sure I'd love it!

    ReplyDelete
  79. I love them. I'm excited to try to win maxi tai

  80. No fave yet, new to BWing my 17mo DD :) I have a mei tai which is excellent and I have a ring sling on order :D Hoping to start wrapping my squish due in January too :D So the Mid tai would be perfect for us :D

    ReplyDelete
  81. My favorite right now is my size 4 wrap or my size 7 for tandem carries. I don't own any kind of ssc so I'm hoping to win :)

    ReplyDelete
  82. I love my wovens and Olives and Applesauce SSC but would love to try this mt!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Would love to use a soft shell carrier. I'm only really familiar with stretchy wraps and ring slings, so this is perfect! My 2 up is just over 25 pounds, and I have a 3mo.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I love my SSC but use a wrap around the house too.

    ReplyDelete
  85. This mid would be prefect as we are trying for another squish! We could use it for either! Of course, I still have my wraps :)

    ReplyDelete
  86. I use a beaten up ssc and would love a new one - a tula. But I think my new favorite would be this mei tai anyway because I really want a great mei tai!

    ReplyDelete
  87. So far I like met this better than other carriers.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Right now I just have wrap I made and one my friend made, I've never tried a mei tai wrap, but I heard they work awesome for back carrying =)

    ReplyDelete
  89. I'd love to try a woven wrap but I've gotta say this mid tai looks awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Our favorite carrier right now is our SB rs. It's so easy to nurse in and fast ups and downs since he is walking now and changes his mind frequently sometimes. Although I think he is starting to get too heavy for the single layer rs.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I've been eyeing these! Nice to hear they're as awesome as they look.

    ReplyDelete
  92. My favorite out of the two is the mid-tai. I have a 17 month old and a baby due in dec that one would work great to wear both babies at different times.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I love my toddler tula for casual walking, but think something like this would come in handy for hiking!

    ReplyDelete
  94. Eucalyptus Mid-Tai. would also like to try a woven wrap sometime.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I have a moby that literally saved my sanity the first month after my son was born. He was colicy every night from 5 go 8 and the only thing that calmed him was wearing him. I've since decided that the moby is to hot (I'm in florida) so I have a soft sided carrier coming next week. It's all an experiment to find what will work best for my chunky baby and for me, being plus size. :)

  97. I have a Sollybaby wrap that I use, but my LO is getting too heavy for it now. I tried a RS, but she didn't take to it. So I'm open to woven and Mei Tais as my next go to carrier.

    ReplyDelete
  98. When my baby was smaller I liked our ring sling a lot. Now that she's getting heavier, I like our SSC, except that its a very basic SSC and has no padding and can only be used for front carry.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Love my RS right now. always up and down.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Love my wovens but I think my toddler would like a mei tie.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I love my wovens, but really want to try one of these with the wrap straps

    ReplyDelete
  102. I love my ring slings, but would love to try a mt!

    ReplyDelete
  103. I'll be a FTM mum in 5wks and I already have 2 wraps, a buckle carrier and a ring sling. I've been looking at the mei tais and after reading this would love the MID one as I like the sound of the built in adjustments for infants etc. I can't wait to try baby wearing but also to try different carriers

    ReplyDelete
  104. I have a SSC and a ring sling, I've never felt confident with the ring sling. I love the sound of the Mei Tai!

    ReplyDelete
  105. I usually use SSC to carry my baby. But I really want to try a mei tai because I think it easier to adjust between me and my hubby. This MID tai really look like a perfect mei tai for us :)

    ReplyDelete
  106. I don't have a favorite yet :-( I'm still trying different carriers. Hope to find a favorite soon :-)

    ReplyDelete
  107. So far I love my wcrs but I'd love to try a Mei tai.

    ReplyDelete
  108. My favourite is my wovens but I haven't owned a m.t maybe I could be converted! I originally thought I'd like the maxi but after reading the review maybe the midi is more versatile?

    ReplyDelete
  109. I honestly haven't found a favorite yet. My moby is great, but not in the summer. The snugli is okay, but is a little complicated. I really want to try a ring sling, but can't afford one right now.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I love SSC's for their ease, but haven't really tried any others :)

    ReplyDelete
  111. I absolutely LOVE the color of the MID tai. My favorite type of carrier is Mei Tai :)

    ReplyDelete
  112. It's hard for me to say what my favorite type of carrier is. I love wraps for longer wearing and ssc for up and down wearing. I do not have a mei tai type of carrier. I want one so badly. I'm starting to save up money now!! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  113. Favorite carriers are mai tai and ssc

    ReplyDelete
  114. I like the two different colors. I haven't tried a mai tai yet, but I'm loving my moby wrap.

    ReplyDelete
  115. My favorite carrier right now is my tencel ring sling

    ReplyDelete
  116. My favorite carrier is my Hug A Bub. But my son is getting too big for it :(

    ReplyDelete
  117. Sadly I only have an old used mia wrap ring sling, but I love it! I plan on getting atleast a ssc and a wrap for baby #2

    ReplyDelete
  118. What a great design, love it. I have been eying off all different mei tai's and SSC's and will be needing something soon, my stretchy wrap is being stretched to it's limits with my 5 month old boofer already although I am yet to decide on a mei tai or a woven wrap

    ReplyDelete
  119. I only have a hybrid Saya. Love it since my boy was just 2weeks old. But now he's a year older. Its gonna be great if we will have a ssc or a mei tai coz back carrying would be fun & exciting for him

    ReplyDelete
  120. My fave changes as my baby grows... But overall I guess it's been a woven wrap.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I use a little bit of everything but SSCs are my go to.

    ReplyDelete
  122. My favorite carriers right now are my linen ring sling and my woven wrap. I can't wear the ring sling for long lengths of time, too much weigh on one shoulder aches after a while. But it's fantastic for grocery shopping and general short wear. I use my woven wrap for longer lengths of time!

    ReplyDelete
  123. I'm a RS girl for the quick and easy, but all WCMT when it comes to anything longer. :)

    ReplyDelete
  124. oh man i said maxi in the form but im lovin on the mid after seeing more pics!!!
my son loves being in the toddler tula or our mei tai (which is now too little for him) but my littlest loves being wrapped but will tolerate the mei tai... no ssc's though. and occasionally a rs but i dont do well with uneven weight!

    ReplyDelete
  125. My favorite with a newbie is a mei tai, big kids go in a woven :)

    ReplyDelete
  126. My favourite carrier is a stretchy for newborns, then SSC :-)

    ReplyDelete
  127. I like my ringsling but think i might like the MID tai even better!

    ReplyDelete
  128. Love Half buckles, wraps and mei tais

    ReplyDelete
  129. I love hemp woven wraps.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Gorgeous! I would love a Mid for my new bub due in Nov!

    ReplyDelete
  131. I love my woven wrap 'sunrise', but I'm also keen on the manduca. Especially if my boy needs to be carried up very quickly ;)

    ReplyDelete
  132. I like a tula for ease of use, but wraps are more comfortable to me and I love their versatility (dislike dealing with so much fabric though ;)) mei tai might be a perfect solution in our household, especially that we have another squish otw ( they'll be 18 months apart ) and need something suitable for both of them! :)

  133. SSC's are my current favourite, but am wanting to experiment with mt's an hb's!

    ReplyDelete
  134. I like the Mid tai, I have a Kangaroo Boba ssc and it's just too big for the baby. Love the Mid tai !!

    ReplyDelete
  135. I like my MTs with wrap straps right now for my toddler who doesn't want to wrap anymore

    ReplyDelete
  136. carrier atm is a SSC but as I am petite this is not ideal for back carries as I can't get it high enough. I am learning to use WW and hopefully this will work better! Mai tai would be a great add too!

    ReplyDelete
  137. I am mei tai curious. Currently we have only experimented with woven wraps. Looking to maximize our bw experience with this beautiful MT giveaway opportunity.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Love my SSC and WCRS's for different reasons and equally but need something that will last a bit longer for my lo who is 11 mos and already 26 lbs! This might just be the answer for baby and I since wrapping with a woven is not the answer for us!

    ReplyDelete
  139. Exclusively use a tula but loves RS and MT for squishes. We are having a new squish in Spring!

    ReplyDelete
  140. My favorite would have to be my woven, coincidentaly its a ling ling original rainbow its my go to carrier i love it, we have an ergo and i always reach for the woven! Would love to try a mei tai!

    ReplyDelete
  141. We are primarily a half buckle/MT and ring sling family. I wrap occasionally and we have ssc but dont use them. Our squish is only 11 weeks old, so I bet as she gets bigger our preferences will change!

    ReplyDelete
  142. I've always been a wrapper, but I also love the convenience of a ssc - great for quick ups and downs and short trips. Would love a mei tei for my next baby (due in a few months). This looks wonderful!

    ReplyDelete
  143. I love my half buckle mei tai :)

    ReplyDelete
  144. I love the look of the mid tai for little ones.

    ReplyDelete
  145. My fave carrier is a mei tai. It is easier for me than a wrap, but has more adjustability than a SSC.

    ReplyDelete
  146. My favorite carrier is Manduca, it's easier for me to run after the kid, after putting him down :)

    ReplyDelete
  147. Angela H: I like to try a Mei Tai, they seem so flexible

    ReplyDelete
  148. My favorite that I've tried so far is a woven wrap. I've carried 3 little boys at various stages/ weights/ ages. Though as they get older I think something like the Mei Tai may be more comfortable. I'd love to try one!

    ReplyDelete
  149. I've only tried three, but right now I prefer my woven wrap. Husband uses a carrier, that unfortunately doesn't hold the knees up and just lets the babe's legs dangle. Since we realized that, it hasn't had much of an appearance.

    ReplyDelete
  150. I would like to try the mid-tai - I love the adjustable options for a little squish!

    ReplyDelete
  151. I love them all... But my MTWC and my RSs are my favorites. :)

    ReplyDelete
  152. My favorite carrier right now is my ring sling. I have a Maxi-tai, but my little doesn't like it much because he can't see very well out of it. I think the Mid-tai would be perfect for us!

    ReplyDelete
  153. My favorite is a SSC but I've never tried a Mei Tai

    ReplyDelete
  154. My favorites are ring slings and soft sided carriers, but I'm wearing more and more mei tais and onbus these days and loving it!

    ReplyDelete
  155. I love my wraps but a MT is a very close second! (And I don't have one yet, just borrowing from sling library).

    ReplyDelete
  156. So beautiful! I even only ever used ssc and ring slings, and I adore them both! I'd love a MT though!

    ReplyDelete
  157. Wraps ate my favorite, but I've never tried a MT with wrap straps... I suspect I may like one even more than my wraps!

    ReplyDelete
  158. I love my Ring Sling and Mei Tai the most :)

    ReplyDelete
  159. LeahD613 - I'm a new mama and new to babywearing! I only have a ring sling and a half-buckle mei tai. So far I love them both... The RS is quick in and out which in love and he can't possibly pop his seat in the half buckle! he's not quite big enough for his half buckle though which means we always use the RS. Would love to try the mid-tai since he will fit in it!!

    ReplyDelete
  160. My favorite type of carrier is a Mei Tai or Woven Wrap. :)

    ReplyDelete
  161. I think a mid tai would be perfect for our little one. And my favorite carriers, of the moment, are wrap conversion ring slings.

    ReplyDelete
  162. I think a mid tai would be the one that would suit us best! I have a almost 1 year old girl but she is very petite and i like the idea of letting the meitai grow with the child. We love wraps but have borrowed a meitai from a friend and we quite like it!

    ReplyDelete
  163. I think I would like the MID to be honest after looking at your review. I first though the MAXI, but I think the MID. :)
I absolutely LOVE Mei Tai, as a new born I prefer my Moby Wrap, and then I moved over to the Baby Hawk. I now have a Manduca, so if I have another baby it will be nice to see how that feels with a small baby. :)

    ReplyDelete
  164. I think a MID-tai would be perfect for my 20 lb lo but would appreciate any suggestions since he's only 9 mo and I'd like to use it for a long time.

    ReplyDelete

  168. The mei tai carriers are by far my favorite style/design. I love the ease of the carrier and being able to transfer bub from myself to my husband with the same carrier.

  173. I love my ring sling for quick trips to the store, but my woven wraps are still the go-to for getting my almost-3-year-old to sleep on a rough night.
