Risaroo Aquarius review

Right out of the bag I could smell the potential. In hand, it was smooth, sleek, and 50-50 cotton-mercerized cotton, the most glorious blue and crisp white. Risaroo's beautiful Sagitta Aquarius  http://www.risaroo.com/atarah-seaside#!/~/product/category=9680276&id=39586792
went straight in the wash and then festooned the stair banisters to dry.

Aquarius is a medium wrap that is cushy and smooth all at once, weighing in at 280g/m2. The jacquard is very easy to wrap with and passes glide with ease. This is not even vaguely a grippy wrap and I think it would be a great wrap for starting out with back carries. My husband commented approvingly on the pattern, saying it was (a) simple and (b) recognizable. I like it- the fletching isn't overwhelming, but it's a lovely contrast and the colors are very distinct and clean.

It's fair to say this got a workout on it's maiden voyage. First Audrey passed out in five minutes. Unfortunately, she woke up forty-five minutes later, and I spent nearly an hour pacing, chatting, feeding and generally trying to convince her more sleep was a GREAT idea. She wouldn't have a bar of it. However. Even with passes bunched this lasted with cush and comfort on my shoulders and tonight we grabbed it again. Success.

On a rainy trip to town, this passed the "quick, sloppy DH" test with flying colors. It was not my finest wrap job, but I was forgiven and Audrey snuggled down happily. With enough bounce for her to play peekaboo, I appreciated the diagonal grain giving and supporting!

We hiked about for nearly an hour, stopped for sushi and made our exit in high dudgeon and a hip carry (tired toddlers need the most hip carries...)

I love it. It's not heavy enough to need wrestling, but it has substance, plenty of style and the color is heavenly. It's floppy after just one wash and it's going to make the perfect workhorse wrap that would be lovely with a little baby but is easily wide and dense enough for a toddler. I'm ranking it alongside Pavo hearts (and it's no secret how much I love those!) for wrapping qualities and friendliness - Risaroo is definitely a brand to follow!

Please note that I have not been paid to write this review. Any and all opinions expressed are my own.

  21. I like strong secure wraps that can hold a toddler.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Really pretty. The recommendation that the passes glide easily and are great for beginning back passes sound great since I am not quite there yet.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Cushy wraps are my favorite - I also like a thin feel, even if the wrap isn't *actually* thin.

    ReplyDelete
  24. as im getting to try more wraps im finding that i really love the soft and floppy ease of a broken in wrap but really liking the grippiness of thicker cushier wraps like my didy , makes it harder to tie off but way easier to not let passes slip during back carries!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Smooth, sturdy and of course fashionable!

    ReplyDelete
  26. This is such a beautiful wrap, I want one so bad. I carry my 18 month old ALOT and a wrap would be treasured so much by me and my little one. I've not owned a wrap before but have used one and attempted to make an at home one. I want to make a baby wearing meet up in my area soon. But here's to hoping!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I like the fact that the wrap already has its substance. I think this is what makes it perfect both for newborns and toddlers.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I like thinner wraps that are still cushy enough to support single pass carries

    ReplyDelete
  35. I am so in love with this wrap! I am a newer wrapper, but the things I love the most about wraps are that they keep baby comfy and safe and that you can wear them so many different ways!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I want this!! I am in love! So cute!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I enjoyed this review and love how beautiful this wrap looks. I usually go for wraps that are durable, cushy and smooth.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I love long floppy wraps. So versatile in length and comfortable to wear. The pattern also plays a huge part. Doesn't matter how cushy it is if I can't stand the color!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I have just got my first wrap and I love it and so does my toddler! I can see how addictive it is to get different coloured and patterned wraps for different days depending on the mood and the weather. I simply love this colour and pattern- reminds me of summer! It looks so beautiful and comfy!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I love that it didn't take several washes to break in. Ease of use is key! Being suitable for babes and toddlers is great too.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I like lightweight wraps that provide support and length, without being super hot.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I've never had an official wrap. Have gotten suitable fabrics in the right dimensions and used them to wrap, but never an actual wrap. From my limited experience so far, I say what I love is that they are easy to use and handle, gentle but strong and colorful.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Knowing it's toddler worthy is all that matters to me!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I've only experienced one wrap but I like that it softened up quickly and is a cool colour and pattern :-)

    ReplyDelete
  45. I love the colors and I am an Aquarius so obviously I must have this wrap :)

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  48. Love the bounce and blankety feel of wraps.

    ReplyDelete
  49. love when a wrap is squishy and soft and easy to make a seat with. if the seat pops too easily it's just not gonna fly for my little wiggler. i am also a sucker for a gorgeous pattern print on a wrap.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Toddler worthy, cushiness, and beauty are all very important wrap qualities to me ;) this is all of those

    ReplyDelete
  55. I like wraps that are soft & supportive, my husband likes the to be easy to wrap with & not too hot to wear

    ReplyDelete
  56. I like a little bit of stretch then I want it to grip when tied and glide easily over babies back when I need to do back carries

    ReplyDelete
  57. I am new to wrapping and so far have only tried one on (with lots of help), so I would definitely say that ease of use would be what I would like the most! I absolutely love the color and pattern of this wrap as well, and am an Aquarius too! ;) My daughter loves being carried in her SSC, but I bet she would love a woven wrap even more so!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I want a wrap that doesn't take a lot to break I and that isn't too grippy. I don't have the time to break in a wrap or struggle with grippy passes.

    ReplyDelete
  59. So many different ways to wrap! And beautiful colours don't hurt either :-)

    ReplyDelete
  60. Since I don't know a whole lot about woven wraps, I'd first be looking for a cute print. Once I'd know a bit more, I'd probably be more interested in the type of fabric.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I have only tried one wrap but would love to try more. This one looks fantastic and easy to use. I love to carry my baby everywhere. It's so comforting for both of us.

  64. I look for ease of use and a great beginner wrap! Have entered all your giveaways and never won so I hope so much that I could win this beautiful wrap as it would be the first wrap for my son and I. I wish I could afford to buy one!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Glide and grip (yes together :)). Support because she is heavier each day and soft because it touches our skin and breathable because phew do we get hot!!!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I like fabrics that are a little but not too stretchy, so that they're easy to tie but still more secure than a stretchy wrap :)

    ReplyDelete
  67. Quality and ease I guess I don't own one but desperately want to but can't afford one. I have a hug a bub but don't like the sag and want something firmer

    ReplyDelete

  70. I love this, gorgeous wrap!! my son has been sick with a fever the last three days and being able to keep him close and comforted in the wrap while running after his 3older sisters while he's in the wrap has been a life saver!

    ReplyDelete
  71. The most important quality in a wrap is ease of use. I'm new to wrapping and I don't want to fuss for too long.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I would like a decent length to allow versatile carries, a decent weight so it doesn't seem flimsy. Soft yet has some grip as well as smoothness. Just right for my baby or my toddler to be close and snuggle.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I love the colour of the wrap to start with. I am new to wrapping so I need it to be easy to use. I would love to be able to carry my 5 week old son hands free so that chasing my 3 other children is easier. It would be priceless to be able to comfort him and be a capable mum at the same time. Pity these wraps are out of my budget......fingers crossed we can win one

    ReplyDelete
  74. I've never used a woven wrap before, but I've always wanted to try one.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Can't see the reply I just wrote! I like a dense weave with no potential for loops or broken threads, such as didy stripes.

    ReplyDelete
  76. This is so beautiful. I like a wrap to have geometric patterns like this one :)

    ReplyDelete
  77. I love this, such a gorgeous colour! :) I am looking for the perfect soft, buttery size 6 wrap. I currently have a size 4 which is lovely but not very soft (yet?) and I'd really like to be able to do some of the carries a size 4 is too short for. Plus one woven wrap just isn't enough - what to do when it's in the wash? :)

    ReplyDelete
  78. I want a wrap that is soft and easy to use

    ReplyDelete
  79. I prefer a soft but toddlerproof wrap

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  86. I love a wrap that is soft, and has bright colors

    ReplyDelete
  87. I like how my toddler feels save while carrying

    ReplyDelete
  88. In the wrap itself, i like it to be light enough to not over heat us, but heavy enough to securely support my bebe! And for Baby carrying!? I had my 14 month old in my RS travelling on the bus the other day, so much less hassle than a push chair, and when he fell asleep against me, i thought to myself, 'This! Is why carrying is better than a pushchair!!'

    ReplyDelete
  89. I like to embrace to me my little treasure :)

    ReplyDelete
  90. I have never used a wrap before but I would like it to be soft, durable, supportive and warm enough in all weathers. Looking fantastic helps too :)

    ReplyDelete
  91. I loves soft buttery wraps that keep my little ones snug and comfy. Right now I would say something light because it's hot here but fall is coming and I won't care about that so much :) Something that doesn't dig into my shoulders or neck for sure.

  100. Beautiful wrap! I like a nice supportive but breathable wrap. When they're not supportive enough and DD starts to sag, I start to ache. When they're not breathable enough, I can't use them in the summer and I like to use all my carriers all year 'round!

    ReplyDelete
  101. This sounds like such a wonderful wrap! We'd love to try it out! We only have a carrier, and we've never used a wrap before. So it'd be our first time!

  124. It is so ironic that this wrap is up for giveaway!! I kid you not I have been coveting this wrap on risaroo.com for the past few days!! I have been working out ways to save up for this wrap! I am in complete adoration with the color and the pattern, it is perfection. I am a huge fan of simple beauty in a wrap, which is exactly what this wrap is, not too overwhelming! I am also a huge fan of size 6 wraps due to their ability to be so versatile, adaptable, and functional in an array of carries. I hope I am the lucky winner to get this beauty, if not I will just continue to stash cash for this wrap, I will have it at some point :)

    ReplyDelete
  125. I have a hard time getting wraps to work w/o me and baby getting frustrated and giving up so the best quality would be one that's easy to work with for a beginner.

    ReplyDelete
